Saturday. Feb. 29. th. 1840.
A clear warm day, after the storm.
Julie, and I set off early for the Dr,s; walked to the Bowery, and rode through Grande street to
the door. Found them all well. I used, my _xqiusite, and found it convenient, unfortunately
lost the handle. Arrived at home at 2 oclock. Catharine, and Henry came to spend the day
with me. added to our dinner oysters in consequence of a short supply. Mother, and Maria
walked down for C. after dinner. Henry went to Jersey City. after dinner. Garret, bought the Herald,
with a description of the “Fancy Ball” (1).

Feb. 27.th. 1840.
Damp, and drizzling rain.
I remained at home all day. Could not go to the Lecture with Garret.

Wennesday [sic]. Feb. 26.th. 1840.
A changeable, spring day.
We breakfast at ½ past 7. I find an hour in the morning a great help, with the business of
the day. Our daily routine, never varies an inch Maria, came in at 11. oclock. We went down to
see Bell. Spent an hour with her pleasantly. Walked up to the Hospital; jumped in a stage
and rode home. Found it past three, our dinner hour. Garret, and children eating Oranges. Eat a
hearty dinner, wish I could diet. Taught Julie

her lessons, after dinner; and finished a collar for Louis. Sewed a brown linen Table Cloth for the kitchen. Cannot nurse the baby much, my milk almost gone, he cares for it only at night. The little fellow, behaves like a little man, sleeps part the night with Bridge, and part with me.
It relieves me very much. Still I do not get fat; but am as thin, and homely as possible
Garret told me as much last night, very consoling truly. Made my self more uncomfor-table by eating two sour oranges, after an immense dinner.

Tuesday. Feb. 25. th. 1840.
A blustering March day, clear in the afternoon.
I walked out with Sis. Spent my day sewing. Always find a basket full of work to be done.
Have not felt sick to.day; had a good appetite, but my face very much disfigured, it is an end-
less source of grief to me. Remsen still coughs.
Haveing [sic] our front walked paved, and (area), it will be a great improvement. Garret spent his evening writing the Dr.(1)

Monday. Feb. 24. th. 1840.
A pleasant morning, rather cooler than it has been. Sent the children to walk with Bridge.
Made a pair sleeves for Louis of Mouslin de Laine (1). After dinner walked out, meet Mr Lee, he came in to sit awhile. Diana, and Fanny, took tea with us. After tea I went in the store for some articles of clothing. Garret, bought some coffee. He has a bad cold in his head. I found it cold in the night, a fire would feel comfortable. We have not had any for the last week, or ten days.

A clear morning, but damp and clouded at 12. had the back parlour windows washed. Arose
with the sun, had the baby all night in my arms; felt rather slim. Breakfast earlier than usual now. Walked with Maria, to Mrs Remsens; and Mrs Smiths. Rode to Park.place to Browns
with them. Walked home, Broadway full of

Bells and beaux. Finished my letter to Maria Hasbrouck. Did not feel well after dinner.
Children all well.

Friday. Feb. 21. st. 1840.
A beautifull, clear, mild day.
Paid three visits with Julie, in the morning.
Mrs Pells, Mrs. Martin’s, Mrs D. Remsens.
Took tea at Chelsea; Henry came for me. Met Bell, and Mrs Woodruff. Julie, sleepy and tired on our way home. Garret came for me at 7. Bought two. lbs “moche coffee”, on trial. Mrs Lee called.

I slept soundly all night; at five oclock found my little beaux, missing, dozed again untill six,

damp to venture out. Received a “New Museium” [sic] full of interesting matter. At 12 oclock walked out with Julie; Found cloak, and Fur shoes uncomfortable warm. The air oppressive, and warm.
