Thursday, Feb. 6th. Mild, bright sunshine.
I walked out in the morning, found the streets rivers, a general thaw. Called on “Mrs. [Torrey]” Pa came in a few minutes. Practised [sic] an hour the piano. Maria(1) called after dinner, on her way to Maria C. The heat of our large fires, quite oppressive, such a change in the weather. Children all well. G. bought a pound of coffee on trial. Spent one shilling for cake. G. sent me some [cruellers]. My corn rather better than it has been. This evening finishing Remsen’s aprons. Maria staid [sic] all night with us. Remsen kept me awake untill [sic] two oclock. Walked him to sleep. Teething makes him restless. My eyes dimmed either by age, or the loss of rest a pleasure with which for the last few
years I have been visited with, Beautifully expressed.
