Monday. May. 3.d. 1840.
Fine morning; showers in the afternoon.
I made a discovery, told G. it proved nothing alarming, but tedious. Kept my room to.day. Dave [Julia’s younger brother] and young Goodwin, called after dinner. Sewed on Remsens dress. G. bought a ton of coal. Had a new post erected for awning. I wrote a few lines to Maria Hasbrouck. Broke a glass lamp this morning at 5 oclock, a bad omen. I had an unhappy hour, but it soon passed over, not in consequence of any mental, but physical weakness.
