Tuesday. May. 4.th. 1840.
Cold, and wintry, wind high, and gusty.
Had a fire built in my room; kept quiet all day, according to orders; slept an hour. Felt easier to.day then for some time past. Sewing Remsen’s dress, Julie close at my elbow no company. Eat some oysters this morning, with a relish.
Since this was a short post I wanted to call your attention to a terrific post explaining the history of red dye on the Two Nerdy History Girls site called The Incomparable Red of Cochineal.
