A violent rain, damp and disagreeable [sic].

We slept rather late to.day, which is usually the case of a dull morning. Bridget cleaned the parlours, I spent my morning with the children. Louis, is a troublesome boy, and has contracted very rude manners. I was obliged to whip him. for misconduct. G. has one of his “distrait turns” and will not have our back stoop enclosed.
Out halls are very cold, and my health suffers from exposure to sudden changes from hot rooms to the cold hall. Men are imperfect creatures,
