A fine day, not too warm.

Walked on the Battery this afternoon with
Isabella, she lent me a A work by Dr Alcott.
“The Young Wife.” It amused my leisure hours
as I did not take any books with me to
the boarding house. They are poor places
to read, reflect or learn any domestic virtues,
I should not like to spend my day boarding.
They give one a taste for company, excitement
and make a quiet house, dull in comparison.
