A peculiar day. Sultry in the morning
and cool at sun down.

I sat at home all the morning, busily en-
gaged with work.
In the afternoon dressed, and went down to
the Miss Baileys, to enquire after Jane Lawrence.
Did not see her, met Ferdinand, and Bell there.
Walked down Broadway with them to the Astor
house- jumped in a stage and rode home.
Had all our knives ground to.day, they are
much improved.
Sent Louis to have his hair cut.
Put up all my Furs, wollens, and blankets
in Camphor, purchased two shillings worth,
for the purpose. Arranged the Trunks,
worked hard all the morning
