The thermometer standing at 96. in the shade untill noon. A heavy thunder shower then came to our relief.

I felt too much debilitated for Church, and laid on the bed all day. Strove to improve the hours, by meditation, reading, and prayer. The air very oppressive, untill the shower purified it, we all felt much debilitated. I dined on rice, feeling no appetite. The evening was cool, and agreeable.
