Cold, and dull sky, ice in the gutters and Winter positively at hand.

I wrote a note to Maria, this morning. Miss DeWitt, and a Miss Hardenberg called on me, they return home to.night. Heard Julie recite her lessons; she improves in her geography. Commenced with Buckwheat Cakes this morning. We are all shivering with cold; I am fearful we shall find our house cold enough this winter. Cold weather is very unbecomeing to me, and I dread its approach, on many accounts.
