A beautifull spring day. Moonlight evening.
I went to Church with G. in the morning. Felt chilly, and some symptoms of an approaching cold. Our Sermon interesting, compareing the mystic element called light, to that unseen influence which irradicets [sic] the darkest mind. The grace and spirit of God. I remained at home all the evening, Garret also. Had an interview with “Catherines Lover,” think he looks mischievous, would be afraid to trust him.
Gave her some lessons in cleanliness; she and Simon both very remiss, and untidy.
