A general thaw, the air like Spring.
A sudden change from Saturday. I kept within doors all the morning, lengthening Julie’s velvet tunic. The sun shone bright, but it was too wet for me to venture out, as I have been quite an invalid since Friday.

Mr H. hired this house for another year, at five hundred dollars, Also a store, at seven hundred. We are anxious to curtail our expenses this year, by one half. I received two letters, one from Geneva, and one from Maria H. Paid the post man all off to this date. passed our evening as usual in the basement, Mr H. reading aloud “Josephus.”
