A winters day, clear and very cold.
I remained at home to day, did not
venture out, it was so cold. Mended Garrets pants.
Employed myself reading, and sewing.
Mr H. did not go down after dinner. Read aloud for
me; we have just finished the final surrender of Jerusalem that ancient city.
My back ached to.day, I imagined all kinds of complaints. A small red spot on my hip gives me some fear.

River open to Poughkeepsie. Times very dull, and
a gloom on many faces. G. usually so sanguine uncommonly dull to.day, he must have the blues occasionally. His generous spirit, cannot _____ empty pockets.
