Thursday. 16. March. 1843. (to.day.

A cold day, but not clear sky.
A tremendous storm of snow, set in at six o’clock, the wind blowing furiously and snow falling three feet in some places, drifting mountains high in others. This storm occasioned much damages, loss of life, and distress. Mr H. brought in to.day “Indian Balsam,” to purify the blood. Recommended by Mr Wallace. I commenced taking it, very agreable [sic] to the taste. Used Canadian lineament again to.night.
