This past Friday night we welcomed Garret’s portrait back to its home on the wall of the Stone Ridge Library. The portrait was beautifully restored by conservator, Marie Bruno (left) with the help of he apprentice Erica Fkiares (right). He now once again joins his wife, our Julia, for many years to come!
Thank you to Jody Ford and Diane DeChillo for your years of hard work in making this happen.
Here was the post from the Library about the event:
Our beloved Hasbrouck paintings, portraits of Julia Lawrence Hasbrouck and her husband Garret Decker Hasbrouck, painted in 1840 by Italian Artist Francesco Anelli, have both undergone conservation treatment, thanks to funding from the Greater Hudson Heritage Network. These grants have enabled the Library to preserve these important components of our local history collection for current and future generations. We invite you to celebrate their return home a reception and lecture by Marie Bruno who recently completed the work on the Garret portrait.
Marie Bruno, painting conservator of Arte Artigianato Restauro, Inc. will be speaking on the restoration process of the nineteenth century portrait of Garret Decker Hasbrouck.
