Monday. 11. th December. 1843.
Dull, damp, chilling atmosphere.
I engaged to go to the store this morning
for “mon mari”, but the damp streets and the fear
of cold prevents me.
Bridget almost well, but I make her keep her room.
C. Shanly or Lynch supplies her place indifferently.
It has commenced raining so I am
thankfull to be within doors.
A second pair of Boots came in this morning, not
lined with Canton flannel, according to orders. How
provokeing, as two weeks, I have been waiting for them.
Canton Flannel: a cotton fabric with a long, fleecy nap usu. on one side only, used for sportswear, undergarments, linings, etc.
