0015Monday 21st Jan/1850.
Rain, Snow, hail, very dark clouds.
A fine day for those who can sit comfortable
at home, but dull enough for the pedestrian. Remsen
much better to.day. A long letter from Louise, wonder-
ing at my silence. I took advantage of this quiet day
to commence a letter in answer.
Slept in the chair, my back very painfull.
Louis came home from school with wet feet, his rubber leaks.
I sat in the basement sewing all the evening. Garret and
Remsen practiced chequers, by the book. I beat G. one game
not allowing him a king.
The rain falls in torrents, the snow will disappear before an hour.
