Thursday. 24th January. /1850.
Mild, and showery, rain falling gently.
My time passed
in putting all things in order. Will not get out, the rain
and a tired feeling presents. Sent a note to Bell, for
“Alice”, pa is anxious to read it. My back aches, it always
afflicts me to [write], yet I love it and would practice more
if it were not so painfull.
Sent Alice to 19teenth st. with a note and Julia’s certificate
Bell returned it by Annie, she has the “Scenes in a Clergymans
life” to amuse her.
I mended some shirts for the boys.
Margaret, made cake in the whaffle [sic] iron.
