Saturday. March 2nd /50.
Clear, cool day, air chilling.
I assisted Louis in finishing his
miniature theatre ; we both worked very hard. It repays him for his taste, and ingenuity. 50 cts already realized delights him. his tickets sell well.
I went with Julia, purchased buttons and a scarf for her neck. 1.$. She went to Mrs B.s for her dress, likes it very much, since turned.
Maria & Mrs Gee, called, sat untill dinner hour, M. staid but Mrs Gee left. G. came in after we had finished our dinner. Julia dressed and set off to call on Miss Grey. Maria promenaded Broadway
with her. I walked up Hudson St. with Garret, saw the funeral of Mr Hoffman in St Lukes church. Met Eugene comeing [sic] to tea with us. He concluded to defer his visit untill
to.morrow. Walked to the square with us. I returned cold, and tired, laid on the sofa to rest.
Our public exhibition did not take place to night, altho Louis gave us a small performance.
I was highly enchanted at the scenery & the foot lights.
Louis, displayed great mechanical ground, he is so neat, and finished in all his work
