New York. Sunday. 5th. December. 1841.
Clouded in the morning, but clear at noon. We did not get to Church in the morning, but passed our time reading. After dinner Garret and I went, to hear a stranger preacher, he was very deficient in energy of manner, his text was that beautiful invitation, “come unto me all ye that are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” our walk home was very cold, my hands call loudly for a muff. Benjamin, sat over the fire all day, went in the evening to the Tabernacle with Garret.
